(May 2019) Maritime 4.0: Matthias Hinz successfully completes research at LOEWE MARINE for his Master’s thesis on digitalisation

LOEWE MARINE

As a working student enrolled at Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, Matthias spent six months at LOEWE MARINE where he developed a digital transformation strategy for the maritime industry.

Matthias studied for an international Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering at Bremen University of Applied Sciences, in the course of which he completed an Erasmus semester abroad at the world-renowned ENSTA Bretagne school of engineering. His final project for his Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) saw him working for three months at Fassmer GmbH & Co. KG. He then commenced his Master’s in Industrial Engineering and Management at Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, completing his Master of Science (MSc) with the support of LOEWE MARINE. He chose LOEWE MARINE as his research partner for the development of a maritime digital transformation strategy because of the company’s extensive network of contacts in the maritime industry.

Matthias, who says in another life he would love to have sailed around the world with the French sailor and publicist Bernard Moitessier, worked for more than half a year as part of the LOEWE MARINE team, gaining valuable insights into the maritime industry and its many facets. During that time, he brought his specialist expertise to bear on various projects, analysing the requirements and devising new approaches to the challenges involved. The solutions he developed were instrumental in the success of his Master’s thesis and made an important contribution to the ongoing growth and development of the LOEWE MARINE service portfolio.

Matthias now works for the Bremen-based startup adoptr, a member of the PTS Group AG, where he is the go-to guy for complex issues. We wish him every success on his professional and private journey. And who knows? Perhaps one day we will get to be part of that journey again!
